AAIHR Code of Ethics and Professional Practice
The mission of the American Association of International Healthcare Recruitment (AAIHR) includes the encouragement high
standards of ethical conduct in dealings with healthcare professionals, clients, and competitors. In furtherance of that mission,
the AAIHR board of directors has adopted the following codes of ethics.
As a condition of membership in AAIHR, each member pledges its support of, and adherence to, the principles and practices
set forth below. AAIHR members acknowledge that such compliance is in the best interests of the healthcare recruitment industry,
its clients, and healthcare professional candidates and employees. AAIHR members agree to always strive
To comply with all laws and regulations applicable to their business in the US and in the source countries in which they are active.
To maintain high standards of fairness and ethical conduct in the operation of that business and in their dealings with healthcare
professionals, clients, and competitors.
To treat all applicants and employees with dignity and respect.
To maintain high standards of honesty, integrity, and transparency in all representations, advertising and other forms of
communication, with current and prospective client organizations, healthcare professionals and employees.
To carefully review the qualifications and experience of candidates and use reasonable efforts to place them in appropriate
positions with US healthcare organizations.
To be transparent in explaining to employees, information that may be known at the time of hire or placement, including the
prospective employee’s wage rate, applicable benefits, work hours and schedule, and other assignment conditions, and to apply
the concept of informed decision making with all parties involved in the recruitment and employment contract negotiation.
To inform to the healthcare professional employee whether the staffing firm or the client healthcare organization will be
responsible for the provision of payroll and benefits and to fully comply with all applicable employer obligations in
accordance with the terms of their employment and any applicable legal requirements.
To use reasonable efforts to ascertain whether the healthcare employer is OSHA compliant so that migrating healthcare
professionals are assigned to work sites that are safe, that they understand the nature of the work assignment and can
perform such work without harm to themselves or others.
To take prompt action to address employee questions, concerns, or complaints regarding unsafe work conditions,
discrimination, or any other matter involving the terms and conditions of their employment.
